What is Indexability?

Indexability is whether a crawled page is eligible to be stored in a search engine's index, governed by signals like noindex tags, canonicals, and content quality.

Also known as: Index Eligibility

Why it matters

A page can be crawlable but still excluded from the index. Indexability determines whether it can ever appear in results.

Who needs it

Sites with duplicate content, thin pages, or misconfigured canonical and noindex directives that unintentionally keep pages out of the index.

When it's used

Review whenever pages are indexed that shouldn't be (or vice versa), during audits, and after migrations that change canonicals.
